\u00abRestore a health in the countryside\u00bb<\/em><\/h3>\n

It is after reading an article about the pure air of Ste-Agathe-des-Monts in the \u201cHarper\u2019s Magazine\u201d, back in 1895, that Elizabeth Wand, a spinser nurse in her forties from New York City, decided to move to the village and established a nursing house.<\/p>\n

Mrs Wand really had great competences in the health\u00a0 field since Ste-Agathe was considered only three years later as the best area for sanatoriums. Many persons visited the village to regain their health due to its\u00a0 the purity of its air that Mrs Wand often compared at the time to champagne.<\/p>\n

The first house of the nurse quickly became too small and she took the initiative to build a more spacious one. During its construction, Mrs Wand received many comments on its unusual for the time octagonal structure, but when the veranda was added to the building the general thoughts changed and it was said to be beautiful.<\/p>\n

From a second home to a romantic inn<\/h3>\n

In 1899, Mrs Wand sold the inn to one of her convalescents, M. R. Wilson-Smith, one of Montreal previous mayors, who used it as it secondary residence until he died in 1924.<\/p>\n

It is only in 1986 that the building\u00a0 came back to its original purpose, showing off the\u00a0 acronym of Relais du Silence, an international network, and became the Auberge Desneiges, in the honor of its new owner Mrs Desneiges Simard.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”3803″ img_size=”full” onclick=”custom_link” custom_links=”#E-8_aHR0cCUzQSUyRiUyRmJldGEubGF0b3VyZHVsYWMuY2ElMkZ3cC1jb250ZW50JTJGdXBsb2FkcyUyRjIwMTclMkYxMCUyRmxhLXRvdXItZHUtbGFjLWhpc3RvcmlxdWUtaG92ZXIuanBn”][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text size=”0″]A few years later, Mr Fran\u00e7ois Pellerin, a reputed chef and\u00a0 sommelier, acquired the inn to convert it in a restaurant that offered a fine cuisine with products from the terroir.<\/p>\n

Then, the Daoust familiy, Diane et Manuel, installed itself there for a few year, until the arrival, in 1994, of Mrs Jocelyne Pelletier and Mr Jean-L\u00e9o Legault that named it Auberge de la Tour du Lac.<\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text size=”0″]From 2003 to 2023, Mario Grand-Maison et Nathalie Gigu\u00e8re take care of this ancient house of four rooms and also the backyard building that contains eight other rooms. All of the rooms have their own whirlpool bathtub for two and its fireplace. There is also massage\u2019s rooms, spas and a sauna that were refitted to offer you the most relaxing getaway.<\/p>\n

You can still admire this impressive house, thank to the good-loving people who took care of it for years and are now completely committed to it, in order to keep this masterpiece of the heritage of the village.<\/p>\n
